Electromagnetic Research

Original Perspectives has a number of areas of interest across the electromagnetic spectrum including running research programmes on behalf of clients.  This has led to innovative developments and approaches with particular emphasis on electromagnetics and linking ideas from different parts of and across the full electromagnetic spectrum.  Core skills have involved the development and usage of many state-of-the-art microwave and RF systems in the frequency range 125 KHz to 600GHz and beyond with work on photonics radiometer techniques and electromagnetic wave interaction with materials.

Particularly interesting areas such as nonlinear electromagnetics have been worked on. This includes generation and observation of soliton formation as well as cross and self-phase modulation.  Programmes of work that required laser switching of microwaves have been undertaken. This involved simulating the active material’s performance, experimentally measuring and comparing the results to theoretical models.  Key work has been carried out on electromagnetic material properties and design with particular applications in all-electromagnetic processing.

The necessary research to produce novel antenna designs to produce broadband responses and specialist retro-directive performance has been carried out resulting in a new product base.

Working from RF through the microwave, millimetric and optical bands, ideas and models used at one part of the electromagnetic spectrum have been successfully translated to another for use in innovative programmes and applications, giving the company an expansive and interestingview of what can be achieved in this area.
